Jennifer Newtson
Working the Trautman Reactive 104's*

January 31 & February 1   10am - 5pm   $250

Lunch, TAG glass, and mandrels for use in class provided.

Partly art, partly science.  The new silver glass colors are a wonderful addition to the soft glass palette, but are you getting all you can out of these colors?  In this 2 day class students will get a review of the colors in the TAG 104 line and learn tips, tricks, and techniques to work these colors.  Students will also learn proper torch settings for reducing and striking them.

Jenny Newtson, the 104 glass specialist at Trautman Art Glass will share good combinations to go with the reactive glasses, and how to get maximum bang for your buck.

Students will also be able to purchase left over short and odd rods at a discount after the class.

PLEASE READ!!

*We are going to call this an intermediate class, and this is why:

You will need enough torch experience to understand the instructor's terminology.

For example, Jennifer will explain the difference between "reducing" "neutral" and "oxidizing" flames, and between "striking" and "reducing" a glass.
However, you will will need to know what she means by "candles" in the torch flame, and how to set your own torche for a usual neutral setting.

Jennifer will not
spend any time on how to make a round bead or how to get the glass on the mandrel.  This is why the class is not determined to be a "beginner" level class, but you don't need much experience at all to be able to get great results from these materials, and that is one reason TAG colors are so popular with the newbies.  :)
